I disconnected my car battery, to hook up the power cable for my amps, and everything is running fine now except I can't open the trunk. The only way to did it is by inserting the key!!! I checked the fuses, and I am going to check the VAG-COM later, but I am wondering if anyone else has run into this? Please help!

you could have saved yourself a lot of headaches by tapping power from the inside of the cabin/cockpit by using the interior "power distribution node" under the driver side foot well. (do a search on details of my stereo install on 02' forum).

Now as to your problem.. I am thinking you may have either triggered a security sensor which you may probably be able to reset w/ vag or maybe you blew a relay of some sort.. maybe a hardline/inline fuse if our cars have them..

The reason I didn't tap the inside node was because I am doing an extreme install.... (check pic poster) so I had to run off the main battery. It's eventually going to be replaced by a deep cycle gell battery. I'm going to try the codes tomorrow morning with the vag, but a friend of mine told me to disconnect the battery, turn the key to the start postion for 1 min, then reconnect the battery and leave the key in the on position for 5 mins, and then start the car. They said this resets the ecu to the "original factory specs." Let me know if you ever heard of this.....
