One more suggestion: An Elemental Designs E8A Sub
People seem to like these subs a lot, and the E8A only requires .25 cu ft. It also has a shallow mounting depth. Oh, and remember, if you need your box to "act" as a larger box, use some polyfill inside.

It's a lot narrower in the back...
The internal dimensions are 11.5" wide in the front, 5.0" wide in the rear. It has a depth of 7.0".
The 7.5" you see on the the left side is the length of the sides, but they are angled.

Depends...
You need a final load of 2 ohms to the amp so you could get a 2-ohm single voice coil sub, or dual 4-ohm coil sub and wire in parallel...which is what most people do. I don't know how many options you have for 2-ohm single coil subs.

So I'm guessing you plan to mount this in the storage area on the driver side of the trunk?
If so...you can easily get more volume by going down into the compartment below the floor level...that container just pops out of place and you can probably get another .1-.2 cubes out of it without much trouble. The other option is to use MDF for your front panel but finerglass the sides and back of the box. You'd be able to use every last inch of space by forming to the trunk liner and the walls would only be half as thick so you'd gain more space there also.

Also, as you can see in the right part of the picture down in that hole, there is a piece of metal that would get in he way of allowing a box to go down all the way to the metal floor.

Solutions...
If you reach under the plastic lip on both sides, it actaully unclips from the trunk liner and comes out IIRC...no more lip 
You can Dremmel tha metal away if necessary but you could still use some of the space with it there.
At the least you could use a section of 4" PVC pipe dropped into the hole to gain a little extra space if you're trying to get just a bit more. Would be simple to cut a hole in the bottom of the box, cut a piece of PVC to lenght, seal the bottom, and seal it to the box. Of course that might be too much unless you really need to squeeze a little more space out of it.

Good info...
I didn't know that lip unclipped...I'll have to see how much more room I can get with that.
And actually...I thought about how I saw to make a "step" earlier and it wouldn't be that hard, at least not a 3/4" step on all sides. Since the MDF is 3/4", I can leave the bottom open and then take wood panels and screw them to the inside of the bigger box to create a step there. Does that make sense?
