Default As fast as your clutch can handle :-D

Honestly, our cars are not dragsters so WTF cares if it takes 6.7 or 7.8 seconds?

If you want to do 0-60 pulls the hard way you will eventually fry the clutch and ruin your transmission. No reason to do that.

Default Yeah, I don't know why ppl think the A4 is some sort of muscle car....

0-60 and 1/4 mile times are irrelevant to our cars. If I wanted a 1/4 mile car for $30K, I'd go get a Cobra, not an A4.

Default Well, seeing as how I'm lookin' to increase my power/speed a little

I've been researching this and the consensus seems to be 1 second off for a chipped car. If you don't drag everyday at every stoplight, your clutch will likely be okay.

However, seeing as how I'm headed towards a turbo upgrade, I might need a clutch.

Default Why do people here get so pissed off....

when people ask about zero to sixty times? It makes sense to ask that question, it's an industry benchmark! I think it's an inferiority thing, for many (I said for many, not all).

Oh... to answer this question...

Probably a half second to a second faster, although... that's not real world driving and like any car you're dragging, you'll trash it quickly if you're dropping your clutch all the time. Good disclaimer?

The A4 is quick, it's not fast and it's not a dragster... many an accord will drop you but... well... if I have to explain the but...

Default I think this is a great question. Why do people chip if they don't really care(m)

how fast their 0-60 times are. I am getting the GIAC chip installed on 10/24. I do not plan on racing every light, but I do plan on dropping the throttle whenever I see fit. It is always assuring to know that extra power is there whenever needed or not. As far as the clutch is concerned, I have owned numerous Jap cars such as a CRX SI, Integra GS, 240SX, MR2, Miata and all of them I dropped the clutch so many times I can't count. Not once did I ever have a problem with any of them. All the cars had high mileage when I either sold them or traded them in. The CRX had 225,000 miles. The original clutch held up to about 130,000 before it went. This was a car that I use to drop the clutch at 5KRPM just for fun. So what I am saying is hopefully the German clutch will be able to sustain the same kind of abuse without breaking down. I do not say you should beat down your car, just have some fun.

Default All those cars you just listed were 2WD. AWD puts a lot bigger strain in the clutch

Since it's a lot harder (with good tires and good asphalt, it's impossible) to chirp the wheels with quattro the weakest link in the Audi AWD powertrain is the clutch and it is the component that will give first if you put excessive strain on your powertrain.

Also 0-60 times depend on a lot more than chipped or not chipped. The problem is that some people who ask for 0-60 times think they got a dragster and sure as hell treat their car like one. Dumping the clutch in an A4 Quattro will wear out your clutch prematurely, no doubt about it. Releasing the clutch and THEN flooring it is a different story.

Default I'm chipped, but I've yet to need to get from 0-60 as fast as I can.

I like the chip because it gives you that much extra push when passing.

Default Good point. I noticed right away I could not squeal the tires with the quattro, so needless to....

say I haven't dumped the clutch.
