Default Couple of things. Never chip the engine

beyond the torque limits of the trans - approx 230ft lbs.

Secondly, although they claim the fluid is lifetime, don't believe it. Swap every couple of years along with the filter. See A8 forum for details.

Doing that, 100K+ should be easily attainable even with enthusiastic driving ;-)

Default how much cushion do you think is in that 230ft/lbs tranny number?

i'd say there is a 8-10% cushion on that number. i'm just guessing, so i could very well be way off. any ideas/guesses?

Default not very....

I have the tip in my Jetta and it was replaced at 17,000 miles. It would lock itself into gear and you had to restart the car to get it back to normal. A little disconcerting. They said there are magnets inside that go out. They had seen alot of Passats with the problem. I still bought another tip, though.
