how to replace headlight
i need to replace my front left headlight on my 2002 a4. the guy at the dealership said i could probably do it by myself to save me some money since. any advice on where to get a good part and how to install it?

TJ: I got those bulbs from ebay. They look pretty good although i didn't completely unwrap them
I didn't know if finger prints would fuxor them or not. I'll post up about them when i get them installed.

It's definitely a DIY....Instructions here...
Remove Torx bolts 1-4, and remove connector (#3).
Bolts 1 & 2 are up on the top front edge of the headlamp housing and bolts 3 & 4 are behind the housing at the bottom. You'll need a socket extension to get to the ones at the bottom.
The connector is a major PITA. There is a clip that needs to be squeezed and after time it doesn't unclip very easily. Once it's unclipped you may need to wiggle the connector to get it loose.
Oh ya, on the passenger side you'll need to remove the air intake tubing but it only requires removing two small philips head screws. The driver's side should not have any obstructions at all. When putting the headlamps back in there are two small clips on the bottom of the housings that need to slide into place. It's very hard to do on your first try but take your time. You'll notice that the clips are in place if the gap between the bottom front edge of the headlamp housing and the bumper is small (less than 1/8")

Re: you need a whole new one? am i reading this correctly? i say get some E-codes
i just need a new lamp for the left headlight. the dealership said its NOT a xenon bulb, but i don't know where to find the bulb i need
