Default How to reset service warning

I have looked through the threads on the site and they all seem to say to just loook in the owner's manual. I have followed the instructions in the owner's manual and it doesn't work.

I have a 2004 A4 convertible with the 1.8L engine.

The instructions say to hold down the check button and then turn the ignition. Then to release the button and it should get you into the correct display. Then you hit the mileage reset button until you reset the warning.

But it just keeps showing the service warning.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for any help from a newbie. I bought the car used for my wife and have had no issues with it. She just turned 10,000 miles which is why the service warning came on.
