Issues with the A4
1) I noticed a "creaky/rattling" sound coming from the rear driver's side of my a while back. It was also around the same time the handling of my car got a bit more sloppy, and since I lack the sport package it's even sloppier than it has to be. My curiosity led me to Midas just to have them check it out (in part because I thought it could be a loose caliper) and they determined I was in need of a new rear stabilizer link. Anyone know what these go for? They were unable to do the job saying it was a dealer item.
2) My Audi Symphony has a mind of its own. Recently it started making uncommanded volume changes. I watched, or rather listened, to it go all the way up from 10 to over 25 all by itself, increasing in increments of 1 every 1-3 seconds. I kind of laughed it off, shut it off, and went about my way to the tune of my intake and exhaust note. An then another day it basically starting seeking all over the place, up and down, which annoyed me more than the previous gremlin did. The radio stations suck in RI so I usually have it tuned to 88.3 which is linked to my Monster adapter for the IPod. This only happened once but god forbid i'm on a road trip without my jams. Any TSB's or something out there for this?
3) My temp gauge is a bit of a mystery. Before it even got cold, sometimes it would stay on cold for a while (10-15) min, then quickly sprout up to center, sometimes resting there, other times slowly falling back to C or halfway there, bouncing around and resembling a retarded richter scale. It's never crossed over the right side of center and usually after 10 mins of driving (especially highway driving) it stablizes in the middle. Fluid levels are fine. Could it be t-stat or maybe electrical?
Lastly, since the weather's hit there's been a lot more chatter under the hood after start-up (<20* F). I know my valves and lifters aren't going to be fully lubed at this point in time and the sound does go away once I get warm so I'm not too concerned (but should I be if it's something else?) I'm also getting a faint little belt squeal around 2K RPM for the first few minutes which goes away within a mile or two also. Anyone experience anything similar? I'm at 63,000 miles and change.
I know it's alot but I appreciate any and all assistance. Thanks!
3. 9 times of 10 it's the T-stat. The 10th time it's the coolant temp sender.
