I've S'edTFA, has anyone changed the Crank & Camshaft Seals w/out special tools?

I have on my other non-B6 cars.
To pull the seal out I would drill a tiny hole in teh seal then screw in drywall screw...grab that with pliers and pull out.
To put the new seal in either use a large socket that works or if not find some PVC piping in right ID/OD that will work.
I've also pushed new seals on by hand as far as I could and then use a dull narrow object to push completey in...something like a larger torx bit or even allen wrench. Never had an issue.

The cam seal is easy, no tools, just remove the bearing cap. ....
The key aspect of installing the new crank seal, is to be sure it is straight. You can configure a pusher tool using a close sized plastic pipe, and a plate with a hole in the middle, to arrange a pull screw with the same thread as the crank bolt, with a nut that fits the bolt. Thread the bolt into the crank nose, place the seal, pipe and plate in position, then thread the nut down to push the seal into position. Make sure it goes in square, and not crooked.

The camshaft seal can easily be changed without removing the valve cover....
I always change the cam seal with the timing belt. Cheap insurance. ;o)
I've been using one of these for years, to remove Audi seals-

http://www.lislecorp.com/tool_detail.cfm?detail=1114</a
