just got a $500 PARKING ticket any ideas?
of how to get out of it?
was parked in a handicap spot for like 10min to drop something off at a dorm. i have a knee injury that i can prob get a dr note for or something...

I highly doubt it... you took the chance by parking there.
unfortunately ignorance of the law is no excuse... you can try... but I doubt a note will help you... thats a painful lesson.

Yeah, your personal convenience trumps the law any day. I'm sure the judge never heard that excuse.
If you don't show up in court with more than a note and a limp, you're meat. That scam's been done to death and the judge is not going to take kindly to someone trying to run him/her. Happened at UCLA - everyone got slammed with fines AND community work.
Could get worse. The judge you get could be handicapped or have a parent that way or be running for re-election. Then they'll want to "make an example" out of you.
Talk to a lawyer familiar with local rulings before you try to wing it with a "limp" excuse.
And next time stay out of the handicapped parking place, lame-o. Sheesh!

uh, thanks bud. but i think that something that requires surgry is a lil more than the 'limp excuse'
but also, its not a judge. its a student faculty review board...

School tickets are harder to fight in my experience.
At the University of New Orleans, when you contest a ticket, the campus PD is who you argue it to. Since it's comprised of only a few officers, you may be unlucky enough to have to argue it to the person who wrote you the ticket. And if they know who you are, can withold your transcript until you pay for it.
