Key programing

Hello everybody,

Just bought a 2003 A4 3.0, the car came with only one key, bought an uncut one from e-bay, somebody cut and program it to start the car but not to lock and unlock remotly the car. I have the VCDS and tried to use the bellow procedure but I cannot save any value, the actual saved value is zero, any clue what's wrong ?

try to put the key in the drivers side door and press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons then push unlock

I think my battery went dead in my key, I changed it and now the remote lock/unlock doesn't work. I tried this and it didn't work.

Any other ideas? I don't have to take this to the dealer do I?

Key programing

I have changed the battery in my only working remote, and the above procedure worked. So there it is:
1-Turn the ingnition on with the other key but don't start the car
2-Lower the window ( just to make sure you're safe )
3-Lock the door from the outside with the non-working remote
4-Push the unlock button and you're done, it worked for me

In regard with my other issue with the "new" remote not being able to be programed apparently they sent me a different part number, I have the right one on order let's see if this one will work.
