Jet Jockey/A4 Pilot

OK just to set things strait. I can drive fast and hard on the road, not dangerously but I don't usually slow down much for turns and curves and I usually wait until the last instant to brake before entering a curve. I don't do this when in moderate or heavy traffic but rather when I'm in light or almost non-existent traffic. The PS2s were never driven on the track except for about 4 laps at last months ACNA's event when I was told I could switch to my R compounds.

For those who don't know my car:

My car is a 2004 A4 1.8T Quattro. It weighs in at ~3400 lbs. It is modified to the Yin Yang, really. This includes a very and I mean very aggressive suspension set up. Modified suspension throughout and a modified PSS9 coilover kit. The <b>rear</b> suspension parameters are as follows; <b>camber is set at -1.25 degrees</b> and the <b>toe is set at 0 degree,</b> that's basically a stock or OEM setting.

Now this is where it gets interesting, the <b>front</b> parameters are as follows; the <b>camber is set at -3.0 degrees.</b> Because I can also adjust the <b>caster,</b> it is set at <b>~ 5.5 degrees</b> and the <b>toe is set at 0 degree</b>. That's aggressive for road use.

The new PS2s (235/45/17), are mounted on BBS RCs (17 x 8) and were installed on May 14TH and by pure coincidence were removed today on November 11TH, that is almost 6 months to the day. In that period I did exactly <b>10,326 KMS</b>(6442 miles). I rotated the tires (front to rear and so on) <b>eight times</b> during that period. In another amazing coincidence, it just happens that I got almost the same mileage or time spent for the tires on the front axle as on the rear axle (5182 kms in the front and 5185 kms on the rear).

As you will see, the wear was very even/equal on all tires. All tires showed a <b>tread depth</b> of <b>5.5/32nd</b> in both middle positions, <b>4.5/32nd</B> on the inside position and finally <b>3.0/32nd</b> on the outside position. FYI, the tire when brand new <b>starts at 10/32nd</b> in the middle portion of the tire. I don't know what it starts at on the inner or outer shoulders.

One more bit of info, on my car, depending on the load inside, the fronts will be anywhere from 32 psi to 36 psi and the rears from 36 to 40 psi. I usually keep a 3 to 4 lbs difference between the fronts and rears. In addition, tramlining with the PS2s is almost non-existent when compared to the S03s. I think this is partly due to the softer PS2 sidewall design.

So there you have it folks, make your own conclusions.
