Multiple Issues
1. Since new, at cold start, there is a clattering noise that most people would say sounds like lifters with no oil in them. It's like the oil filter completely drains when I shut off the engine. The noise lasts a half second, but is quite noticable. The dealer says this is "normal" and I need to know if there is metal-to-metal contact or just the lifters finally getting oil under pressure. Does anyone else hear this noise with the 3.0 engine? Is it "normal"? Should I be worried about engine longevity?
2. The brake pedal is so high off the floor I can't stand it (from the days of "unintended acceleration?). Has anyone somehow lowered the brake pedal maybe about an inch or so using German parts or ?? If so, how?
3. Need more power/torque, but offerrings for 3.0 engine seem limited. Anyone have a source for a chip or whatever to get 15+ more HP and lb.-ft. of torque?
I don't know about the 3.0 but the 1.8t would pump air into the exhaust after the engine to meet emissions or something crazy like that. Air pump would sound like an old lawn mower with no oil for about 2 seconds. Happens when cold.
Should be normal but I'm not 100%
1 I hear the same noise, normal.
2 I asked the Dealer if the Clutch pedal could be adjusted lower as I find that disengages too high. No adjustment so I imagine the brake pedal will be the same. I know it is a bitch to 'heel and toe'. I will install an after market set of pedal covers in place of the rubber ones to see if that helps.
3 I have the Upsolute Chip and K&N which brings the car to 235hp/240lbs. Tq. I also installed Supersprint performance mufflers. They advertize 3 to 5% increase in performance which brings it to 245hp/250lbs. Tq. The car is definitely quicker, better throttle response, and a nice exhaust note when you accelerate.
