Default never!? This engine will always be noisy and makes vibrations

That's the first thing I notice when driving car back from the dealer the first day, will never be as smooth as my A6 4.2. But don't worry, you will get used to one day!

Default 500 miles I have a vibration at 2100 rpm's.

They tell me it's exhaust. Not really that happy. 'Luxury' means quiet to me. I drove another 1.8 at the dealer and it was the same.

I'm considering requesting an exhaust change.

Default When it grows 2 more cylinders! I disagree with Quebec, I think the 1.8 is realtively smooth for a

4 cylinder, and absent of any buzziness that most 4 cylinders have

Default ...try searching the forums for "2100"...more

it seems that this has been a common complaint/"quirkiness"/trait of the 4 cylinder for a number of people, though many others have not had a problem. I've experienced this as well, 2100 rpm vibration no matter what gear, neutral etc. Worse with cold weather. The dealer felt it was due to the engine mounts and loosened them, ran the engine, then retorqued them. About 50-60% better afterwards, though still present. Someone else had a portion of their exhaust replaced without any benefit. There are also some theories about it originating from the flywheel, intrinsic resonation of 4 cylinder engines etc. Don't know for sure, but IMHO my dealer's explanation seemed reasonable, though i am certainly not a tech guy. Look forward to updates from the other vibrators ;-)

Default Dunno, mine is 8 days old as well, and is smooth...

with almost 500 miles. It's a 4 banger, it isn't going to be perfectly smooth.

Default it's something that comes and goes, with temp and other things I guess.

Mine has it some days and doesn't others.

Default Go to the dealership and compare with another new one. Mine never felt rough but maybe smooth to me

is rough to you. Do your own comparison. Then if yours is rough by comparison, tell the service department about your comparison check and to please make yours like those other new 1.8Ts.
