Default i dont think coilpacks are causing the 0420 code tho...

I'm also getting a cat system bank 1 below threshold code. The mechanic i was talking to is in his 20's and i gave him a twenty spot for the free service, so I don't think he's tryin to scam me. The misfires are also very sporadic, so its not even effecting performance of the car. but I will try ur advice, thanks!

Default

bad O2 sensors can throw the same code as a bad CAT, but try coilpacks first!

Default iirc, someone correct me if I'm wrong, Miltek HFC is the only HFC that won't throw a code on our

cars. Ditto on the aftermarket universal 02 sensors -- spend a few dollars more and get the OEM sensors with the full harness. Search for uid BracketRacer about potential code problems using the universal sensors -- he has his own shop and works on Audi's so he has practical knowledge/experience with them.

Default Well, I'm not always right, far from it,....m....

but I engineered powertrain control modules for gasoline engines for 14 years, and I've been on this board for almost six years. Coil packs fail a lot more often than cats, and since you've already replaced your cat, the odds of having two bad ones are low, really low.
