Need HELP with Car Problem

Hi all, i need assistance with my car. I was at a stop light, the light turns green, i drive the car off regularly, all of a sudden the Check Engine light comes on and keeps flashing then the car starts bogging. Something starts to smell like it's burning so i didn't know what to do other than to drive it home. The engine seems like it's not picking up power and just keep on bogging. Has anyone experience this problem. Can someone give me some advice. I need to get the problem resolved ASAP. Please help. Thanks.

except for the burning sounds kinda like coilpack

Seems like a coilpack failure.

Do not drive. If you're under warranty, get the car towed to the dealership. If not, replace coilpack(s) yourself. Its a simple DIY. Search the archives for instructions.

transmission dying? i would say coilpack but i've never heard of burning smell w/ cp failure

the smell could be coming from the HFC/exhaust...

last time i had a coil go bye-bye my HFC was glowing red b/c of all the fuel dumped in there due to the falty coil... the exhaust smelt and sounded like **** too...

Thanks for everyones help

it was the coilpacks. 2 of the coilpacks went bad and i just had them replaced. $150.00 for both including labor. Car is back to normal. Do these parts always go bad?
