NYC Bumper woes
I park in NYC (garage). Unfortunately, bumper dings are part of life here. Anyone know of a bumper protector type device out there? (and I'd prefer not to get a full-on front end cover)

those kind that stick on are awful...I park on 76th....
and understand your concern. My rides been hit on all sides...I had it in a garage at lincoln center but they dented the **** out of my right door and would not pay. I got it fixed on my own and now its on the street...A4's don't like NYC

It drives me crazy...
I don't know what to do. I don't have the time or patience to have them recognize and repair each ding each time. Plus, you also run the risk of alienating the attendants who will then do much worse. How has street parking been treating you? Also, what do you do for car washing in NYC?

Re: It drives me crazy...
I've had bad experiences on the street and in the garage. Expensive garages never bump the cars but the afordable ones in the 250-300 a month range (which in itself is not affordable) seem to care less about contact. I'm taking my chances on the street. I can't say its better, but at least its free. I fugure I can kiss the bumpers good bye, I just want to keep the metal clean. I used to park a grand cherokee on the street, it never got a nick in two years, for some reason my A4 is a magnite for contact with hard objects.
Re: washing, I think it stands out too much clean so I keep her dirty. Houston and Broadway wash sometimes...

my window at work overlooks
the kinney garage on 58th. years ago i made a mental note of NEVER, EVER, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES giving those dog-catchers keys to my car. they drive them like go-carts at amusement park, yet still expect a tip atop of $10/hr fees...
long time ago someone made a rear bumper protector out of 3M film. search for it.

Re: NYC Bumper woes
I used to park my TT at a place on 29th and 3rd ($300/month). The first month I was there I got dings on a near-nightly basis, but then I got to know the 3 guys who took care of it. I then explained (in Spanish) that there was extra $25/month for (each of) them if they took good care of the car. There wasn't a millimeter of scratch after that. Pricey but worthwhile.

you must NOT like your Alloys. After getting the alloys on my old '99 Prelude heavily SCRAPED, i have never since went to an auto car wash with wheel railings.

This is what I did
I bought a black bumper guard at R&S Strauss and some flexible bumper paint. The color does not match exactly, but its better than black. Total cost <$50. I try not to park in a NYC garage ever. I live in Queens so its easier for me. Here are some pictures:
