Tx. The car was serviced 2000 miles ago with oil change and new filter - all within Audi specification on oil grade etc. It could be a faulty filter I suppose....How did you cure your oil guage problem??

What weight of oil was used? 5w-30? 10w-40? Synthetic?
Is the correct filter installed? Part number?
Oil, if it is a heavier weight, like 15w-50, will cause your oil pressure to read higher.
Also cold outside air temps will make oil pressure high, until the oil and engine reach normal operating temps.
Audi's generally run very high oil pressure. My oil pressure gauge is always pegged high, until engine is hot, and at idle.

Tx for the advice. Had the problem diagnosed as a faulty meter following a pressure test. At least I don't have to look forward to exploding oil filters.
