Only the 3.0 with Premium leather package (the real leather) comes with the real leather wheel.
On the .pdf file I downloaded from audi-usa website, only the 3.0 with premium leather seat package comes with real leather, see for yourself at the following:
Genuine Buffalino full-leather seat upholstery; door inserts, front / rear center armrest, shift **** and steering wheel in matching leather.

I was at the dealership today, and 1.8's can be ordered with a premium package that includes leather interior. I would assume the steering wheel would be the same leather....right?

Search for "leather" and you'll find this on page 4:

Actually, the Buffalino leather is just the seats. The steering wheel and shift **** "match" but(m)
it definitely doesn't feel anywhere near the same grade/grain of leather (and if it did, it wouldn't feel right - it would be too thick and too deep a grain for a steering wheel and wouldn't look smooth on the shift ****). I have the 3.0 with premium leather.
Anyway, as cmoney posted, the steering wheel and shift **** on the 1.8T are in fact leather.

Don't you do research before you post?...Pg 37, Audi A4 2003 Brochure says....
"Leather wrapped 3-spoke Sport steering wheel with manually adjusted tilt-and-telescopic stering column"...and "Leather-wrapped shoft **** (Tiptronic and multitronic models), shift boot (manual models), and hand brake leather." These items are standard for ALL A4 models! Sure, only the 3.0 gets Premium leather, but you are forgetting some common sense here. This subject has alse been previously addressed.
