Picking up Car Tomorrow...Last Question about fees
I am picking up my car tomorrow after a long wait since December 4, 2001.
I have seen many posts here about what fees to pay for and what fees shoudl not pe paid. The only ones I can remember are dealer prep and advertising. Are there any others and which are normally paid?
Thanks

There are still newspaper and radio ads for Audis in urban areas. They are placed by
AoA on behalf of area dealers. Whether ordered or not, the advertising still occurs, and thus every new Audi owner in an urban area pays it. Think of it as an inexpensive way of raising resale down the road;-)
Port prep is usually $45.
Acrylic is $4

Agree, what if the dealer is unwilling to waive the unnecessary fees?
Are you willing to walk away without your Audi? Sounds like the dealer certainly has the upper hand, if the price & fees were not already agreed upon.

Re: X amount over invoice means just that. The total on the bottom of the invoice sheet + X amount +
I negotiated for X over invoice. So, you are saying, if they try and add other fees (prep, advert, etc.) on top of the negotiated number over invoice, then I should walk?

It should be fine. They will show you the invoice, or you can ask to see it.
The ad fee ( if you are in an urban area ) as well as port fee will be there in black and white on the invoice. It is highly illegal for a dealer to show a false invoice, so don't worry about that ( they can be shut down for that ). Any fees ( other than T&L ) not shown on the invoice, should be viewed with suspicion, and negotiated away, unless you have made special arrangements.
