hi, i own a 2005 a4 1.8t ultra sport, i put on an apr exhaust, and after about three weeks of using it, it started making a rattling sound from the rear, sounded like there were a bunch of rocks in my muffler.
i took it to a shop, and they told me that my resonator has three cracks in it, and that it needs to be replaced or rewelded. they could not reweld it because its stainless steel, and supposedly, you have to have a special machine to weld that.

anyways, my question is, in the event that the resonator can not be fixed, can i just use any old resonator to replace it with? or can i run straight pipes, and if i do run straight pipes, will i lose a lot of low end torque.

and as far as the location of the crack, they are right where the two mufflers connect into the resonator.

am i the first person to experience this problem with APR exhausts ?i heard they were suppose to be the best in terms of quality...

same happened to mine and the exhaust shop fixed it

... happened to me too, small crack in a weld seam. They sent me a replacement. Give them a call..

I have a replacement resonator sitting in front of me...same thing happened.
