Default Question, is this the correct radio removal key for the B6 radio ?

I had this set of keys before, and I was sure that it would work on my Audi...But I need clarification, I plan to fit the Denison icelink today...(edit: I tried the keys and they do indeed fit and click in correctly, however when I pull on them they pop back out without the radio moving, I think that where the notch is is rounded somewhat and perhaps the metal is soft also, I'll have to borrow a set of keys from someone around the area)

Oh when I'm here, any recommended way to repair the TIP surround trim, it was badly scratched up when I bought the car used less that a year ago, haven't gotten around to getting it repaired yet.

Default Yes, that would work on the Symphony II. It's just rounded already. However...

the important thing is that it snaps inside to dislodge the 4 locks. Therefore, rather than pulling the key you can pull the radio out by inserting fingers into the tape slot. This is how I know most people do. Others remove the kick panel to reach into the back of the radio and then push the rear outward.

Remember, you already unlocked the pins by inserting the key so it's just a matter of dislodging the radio from its resting place.

Good luck.

Default Ah excellent point, great description , Tks...I will try again...(edit)

Looks like the cassette has a function after all

edit: well I tried but it takes too much force from he cassette player, so I'll do the job properly some other day by getting in behind the radio to push it out...

Default I understand your concern. Pulling from the cassette feels like it will break it, but

it really wont - surprisingly. The thing is the whole deck has settled on its resting place already and feels stuck, but actually just needs a nudge to break away. The deck needs to wiggle on its 4 corners to dislodge. When it does, you pull straight out.

I know it's easier said than done and I wouldn't blame you for not wanting to pull via cassette slot. I won't force you cos the disclaimer is, of course, not to hold anyone responsible for the advice. Either way you pull it, you will see and scratch your head how easy that was to dislodge when at the moment it looks glued to where it is right now.

Just remember, by inserting the 4 keys you've unlocked the pins already. All the radio needs now is a tug to slide out. Once again, good luck.

Default Tks,

I was looking around underneath the dash, and it seems pretty hard to remove the trim...I'll give the yanking on the cassette another go...

Default Yes, very cumbersome just for the dash to remove panels or glove box :(

Anyway, if you don't feel comfortable via cassette deck don't force it.

Another option is to get help with your Autozone or nearby car stereo installer as they should have their own radio keys that aren't rounded, yet. You can have them help you remove the radio and then drive back home with the deck sitting loose. But of course you may have to tip them. And only deal with the person who dealt with removing the Symphony or you're in a better position removing it yourself than him experimenting and ending up scratching or breaking something.

Default more questions about repairing the tip surround

has anyone painted theirs? if so, what kind of paint did you use, and did you have to rough it up to get it to stick? when tinting my tails and sides i had to scuff, and once you do, there is no turning back! thanks to anyone that can help!
