Quick bent valves questions

Quick bent valves questions
04 A4 1.8t Quattro 5 speed.
timing belt snapped prematurely(25k Miles on timing belt) while on the highway, I was on my way to a 2 week job out of town so I got it towed to my house and I’m away till the 23rd.
ive read countless bent valves threads and I heard everyone say how expensive it is.
Am am I missing something?
1. Pull head
2. Inpect Pistons & valves
3. Take head to machine shop and get the head tested and replace bent valves.
Got a quote for valve job for 250 and $10 for each valve.
so I figure
350 for valve job and valves
220 for timing belt kit
And another 150-200 for gaskets and head bolts.
thats 800ish but am I hearing people on forums saying it’s gonna cost couple thousand...?
