Rear Brake Input...
The other thing I was wondering is if it is worth upgrading to Stainless Steel brake lines now, or should I wait until the fronts go out as well? The other thing I was wondering is if it is worth upgrading to the 255 rear rotor as opposed to the 245. I'm not even sure if this is possible, but I'm jsut throwing the idea out there. When my front's go, I'll probably do the 3.0 upgrade, as I need to keep my 16's for winter tires. Any input at all that you guys have is welcomed. TIA
I have slotted front rotors, but my rears are plain. Again, I didn't see the need to do anything special for the rears, and you can't even notice the slotted vs. smooth difference.
As for stainless lines, you can do that now or later. Note that if you just change pads, you won't need to bleed the system. With lines, obviously you do. I'd put the lines in when you are ready to flush the fluid and kill two birds.
Second, I believe that changing the rotors at the same time you change the pads is worthwhile (assuming that you have the original rotors). I put the slotted rotors on my rears, but whether there is benefit is questionable. And yes, the ECS price is for a pair.
Third, if you are going to change to SS lines, do all four corners at the same time, along with the brake fluid change. Pulling the lines will require getting rid of the fluid, so it makes sense to do the fluid change at the same time.
When I picked the car up yesterday, my mechanic said that both pads and rotors are shot, or at best have 2-3 weeks of light driving left on them. So I think I'm going to do slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads.
The question comes with the SS lines. The front rotors and pads were new when I bought the car 18k miles ago, or at least thats what the dealership says. When the front brakes do go, I am fairly sure that I will do the 3.0 upgrade in the front. Should I jsut wait until I replace the fronts to do SS lines all around? And, yes, we held off on the brake fluid flush yesterday until the new rears go on.
Sorry for the long response, but thanks for the help.
