Replace Bose amp or not?
Hey Everyone,
I drive a 2004 A4 sedan with the Bose sound system. I recently found out that my Bose amp needs to be replaced. Amp was causing feedback with the radio, causing a funky smell and a buzzing sound coming from the center speaker when the car was turned off. Price quoted was $850.
I decided that instead of replacing the Bose amp, I would get a new non-Bose amplifier and a new head unit(something with bluetooth, maybe even Nav). Figured that I could buy a decent amp and HU for the cost of replacing the Bose amp.
Is this the right decision? OR should I just replace the Bose amp? Can I replace with a non-Bose amp?
If I do replace the amp and HU, can I use my existing Bose speakers with a non-Bose HU and amp? If not, then I would need to replace the speakers? I have been reading the forums and am unsure of this.
Thanks everyone.
I use Anthony Gallo speakers which are great especially if you want the style and size like the bose.. which you could then pair with a stonking Denon or Onkyo amp.. get a Velodyne or another top brand sub and maybe have change for a Blu-ray/hidef dvd player
Personally..., I would also go for a plasma instead of a LCD especially if you want to watch sports on it.. a 42" hidef plasma could be got for less than the 2K.
Ill compile a quick list as a example in a mo...
