Second day with Thermal...

Well I've now had my Thermal Exhaust for a full day and I've got to say wow! Other than the little fitment issue (hopefully corrected next weekend), this system is amazing. I actually turn the radio down just to hear the deep tone when I hit the throttle. The engine seems to perform slightly better also (power seems more consistent). I just cant wait for the 04 software to come out. I would definetely recommend this exhaust to anyone. Since I have the Tip., mine only cost me $695 shipped throught the ecodetuning group buy.

I actually had a chance to get on the highway last night and while the sound is nice
I actually think it's a bit over-powering. It gets significantly louder under any amount of load. It actually drowns out the bass from my 15" Image Dynamics sub with 400W of power...of course I can adjust the volume and take care of that but most average people wouldn't be able to deal with the stereo that loud for long. I'm not sure that I'm happy with the sound level of this exhaust. I'm going to give it a few more days and see how I adjust to it. Didn't I read here about someone having custom mufflers made for their Thermal system?

For $50 extra, custom mufflers will be put in place for a lower sound level by Thermal R&D exhau
if you so choose to but as with any kind of restriction performance is compromised. Any system with lower sound level = more restriction which will have lower performance. At least we offer a chice for those folks that would rather have the lower sound level yet want something above stock level.

The muffler & resonator design has alot to do with the sound level
Lets say for example you have a 3 inch pipe and at the end you have a cork with a hole that's only 1 inch in diameter do you believe that you will flow 3 inches worth of liquid through that at any given one time or will it restrict the flow to only 1 inch? So what I'm trying to say here is no matter how large the piping it is still limited to the flow of the mufflers and resonators. Now this is an example I'm not saying that this is exactly how an exhaust system works but just trying to simplify things for a better explanation. If there were definite dyno charts to prove that more restriction and lower sound level equals to more or equal power, I would have to see it on paper to become a believer, a simple butt dyno will not do for me anyways.
