should I trade up? 6 speed owners - advice needed!!
I am considering a trade up to the newer 1.8t ultrasport with the 6 speed...
Does the 6 speed make that much of a difference?
Any thoughts??

I would have to say yes and no...(m)
If you are chipped, then yes, you may get some use from 6th gear. If not, IMHO it really wouldn't make too much of a difference. Having said that, it is hard to compete with the factory look of the Ultrasport package without using aftermarket body kits and wheels...so I guess its a bit of a trade-off. I liked the 6 spd when I was stock, and now I LOVE it chipped.

well... is it worth the sunk cost? looks like you will lose some money on the deal
the 6spd is just diff gear ratio or similar to over drive isnt it?... and the ultrasport package isn't the most attract kit for the a4... money wise your are probably better off purchasing after market kit of your choice... just my 2 cents

Mine is a 5-speed and I rarely even get to 5th gear! Even on the freeway, it's all about high RPM's with the 1.8T. I can't imagine how slow the 4-banger must feel in 6th gear.

Once above 100MPH it is worth it; but how often do we get to do that
in 6th at 70MPH, you are very low on the torque band and need to downshift to 5th to pass. I have also watched the MPG computer on long trips and get better mileage keeping it in 5th.
