Snow country owners...did anyone have the wiper blades break off during the winter??
I looked at the new blade to arm attachment mechanism and can't believe that it would survive the ice and snow. This has got to be the most rediculous design (besides the oil dip stick) that has ever come out of Audi. What was wrong with the old Gen 1 hook design?? You will only be able to buy blades at a dealer, not Pep Boys as in a weekend emergency! Plus if the blade every breaks of in an ice storm....nice big arc scratch across windshield!! I'm starting to believe that Audi lost all its seasoned engineers and this is what they are getting these days!!!

3.0 has this orange plastic end that looks like bolt threads....
nothing like the picture in the manual. It's almost impossible to determine the oil level. You need to look extrememly close and in the correct light to see what threads are filled with oil. It will be a piece of cake when the oil becomes ultra black in the orange threads!!!
What's wrong with a flat black stick with a high level and low level notch? I could see the oil level in moonlight with that design!!!

Yes. The passenger blade broke off when I ...
gently lifted the blade to remove ice from the rubber part of the blade. The plastic that connects the blade to the wiber arm is flimsy and poorly designed for cold climates. Luckly the wiper continues to work as long as the wiper arm is not lifted off the glass (in which case the blade falls off). This is on my list of minor problems for the next time I take it in for service.

I think we're confusing the 1.8 and the 3.0. The 1.8 has a straight dipstick with a perfectly clear
"readout" area and 2 rubber guides to keep the stick straight on removal (no oil coating the entire dipstick.)
Definitely the best design I've seen.

You confirmed my fear, I will buy another Audi blade....
as a spare!
I guess the German Barvarian Alps where they design and test the A4 is not considered "cold" country! I really would like to sit down with the Audi A4 design team and go over my long list of "why did you do that"...it would be interesting!
