So what's up?
Quattro is nice but hardly a necessity. Your Quattro-free car is lighter, thus faster and will get better gas mileage. And there's less stuff to go wrong. The handling will be different but not worse. Feel any better?

...if he has frequent medium to heavy snow or rain, or he lives in hills or mountains, he brought this on himself and must agonize accordingly.
If he's on the flats, in a major city of the warm and dry lower half of the country, he made a wise choice and should pride himself on his intelligence over the foolish boy racers.

Less stuff to go wrong should not be on that list. In all the years that quattro has been made...
I don't ever think I have ever heard of a quattro failure in any of the quattro production cars. It is arguably the most bulletproof system on the car itself...
