Suspicious of my service -- Your advice please
I dropped off my car to get service at 40k miles. I also requested a repair of a blown tail light. I provided my own synthetic oil. When I got the car back, I noticed the synthetic oil had not be used. No biggie, the service advisor had forgotten. Then as I was driving home, i noticed the tail light was out again (dont know why i didnt notice this when I was leaving). Finally, the service meter was not reset, so now my car tells me it needs to be serviced again. I am wondering if anything at all was actually done (including all the major service things such as replacing spark plugs). Is there a way to confirm what was done? I would like to know, for example, if my spark plugs are new.

My dealer has forgotten to reset the indicator twice so far...
and I'm at 20K. I don't really care though, since it's easy to do it yourself. I'm sure if you pull out the spark plugs, you should be able to tell if they were replaced. It is a little strange that they didn't use your oil, they didn't fix your tail light, and they didn't reset the clock. Also, if you look at the oil, you should be able to tell if it's been changed - should be obvious from past experiences with changing the oil in my other vehicles...

I would look the car over twice and then make a phone call and raise hell if they did nothing
it could have gotten lost in the shuffle too and they thought they could play it off...anything is possible....

Synthetic is now the "standard oil" change for the 1.8T engine, according to sludge problem letter. You can always ask for the old parts to confirm part replacement.

I'm not sure what is the best thing to check...
The service was a month or more ago, because due to my job i am almost never free during business hours. I cant ask for the old parts now, so I'm wondering if there is a quick and easy part that I can check.
