Taking out the ECU tonight. Should I use the vicegrip or dremel method to take out the security

Default IMO, you really need to access the situation...Do what you think will get out the...

screw/bolt out, cleanly w/o the dreaded "no where to grip, no slot to turn" issue...

I've been there, done that on other screw/bolt removal jobs...

IMO, don't ruin the screw/bolt and in turn your method of removal...

My vote, if you can grip the screw/bolt firmly & have the clearance to swing/twist >>>> go vise grips...

Good luck on the swap...Let me know when yer done...Would be interested how you like it

yes, that is exactly the technique with the screw driver. not sure about your other suggestion though. perhaps its worth a try.
