Hehe... the 2.0 liter A4! Achieving a blistering sub-10 second 0-60.

Default surprised to hear that the A4 got a better gear box rating than the bimmer (more)

Especially considering that the A4 uses a linkage (or is it cables?) and the bimmer is direct. I did test drive a 330ci before I got my A4 and the shifting felt pretty decent.

I'm surprised audi did so well w/ the new A4. Drove a friends 01 and I think the 02 is a nice improvement. His felt a lot more sticky, and stiff, little more rubbery too.

Default Ha! 318i!

That's too funny.. almost anything would be better than that.. Heck, my old 1990 Geo Prizm had a better 1/4 mile time than the 318i!

They should have tested the 323.

Default "It's a fair and square victory for the Audi"-NOT ANY MORE!!!

BMW no longer sell the 318i with the 1.9L engine and have updated this model to a 2.0L engine which now has 143bhp of power vs 130 for the Audi.

I have driven the BMW and the engine sounds and feels a lot better than the 2.0L Audi unit. The article presented is out of date and both Top Gear and Auto Express now give the win to the BMW.

Are you saying since BMW dropped its 1.9 engine, they are better than Audi now?

Default It feels like a more powerful engine.

I would like to drive the 1.8T Multitronic when it arrives in March and make up my mind then. Anyone else driven the 2.0L BMW 318i???

Thanks..

Default All 3 of these cars are so close that any little

change in options or std equipment can tip the balance. They're all so close in price/performance/handling/luxury that its almost a toss-up. If you read the article, the Audi won by a very slim margin, and one of the big reasons was the BMW's less powerful engine at the time.

Comparison tests are almost meaningless w/ these 3 unless you personally are shopping for the exact same cars w/ the exact same options. Even then, you might weight price more or less heavily than the magazine does.
