Default Thinkin' of changin' from a b6

I am tired of having to spend so much money to make so much power. For instance, spending about almost 5500 for a stage 3+ on the Audi A4. I was wondering of what everybody thought if I traded my car in for either a Mitsubitshi Evo MR or Subaru STI or a stock new Corvette. I was just wondering on what your opinions were on the matter. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Default It's all about needs. If my main goal was power, I wouldn't have bought a B6 in the first place

For me it's about design, comfort, safety, style, function, etc. Performance was not on the top of my list, although some components of performance, like AWD were.

If that's what you're after, do it.

Default its a matter of what you think you want...

there is no such car that will fill having a great interior like the a4 with the power of a car like a corvette...

the best compromise cars are m3, m5, s4, rs6, c32/55 amg and the likes...

those are classy cars with nice interiors that have been more aggressively tuned...

but honestly I'd rather go slow and have an a4 anyday of the week... I would kill myself if I drove a Mitsubishi or a Suburu... for that matter I don't love the Corvette at all once you're inside of it

Default I thought About that too....Test drove the B7 lastweek and decided to stick to my B6....(more)

In stock mode , the B7 2.0T sportpckg. is much faster & handles better than a B6 1.8T sport..It has the new engine, new suspension, but still the same chassis/platform and interior ergo....But the price is about $8k more than what I'd pay for my 02 3 years ago.

My car is all paid for ,and the current Engine & suspension bit upgrade it has can still easilly outsprint & outhandle a Stock B7 (I'm talking about the 2.0T). So, I figured about $5500 for 350hp Stage 3+ is still cheaper than trading my car & starting over again on mods & car payments.Same can be said if I considered an EVO or a WRX Sti.....Stage 3+ will get you same S4 output on a lighter car... And Your still driving an AUDI....."Odiba Chong"

You will feel very sorry when you sit in one Subaru or Evo . The interior just crappy and cheap .

Default no doubt a GTO will spank stage anything b6

out of the box. Vettes? Hell C5 z06's i've seen folks with dealer tags on stock tires rock 11.9 1/4 miles. There's no way you are going to turn the audi into such an exotic sports car. C6 with Z06 package 427, stupid insane.

when i mean a gto, i mean with standard bolt-ons those things will go with the LS2.

the interiors suck on american cars, but if you can get over that, the sheer stupid G force of a 400-500hp car is stupid fun. Alas for me it lead to about $3000 of lawyers fees and various tickets owning a 400hp 11.9 second ls-equipped car. You'd be suprised at what you can get away with in a quiet little A4 audi, you won't be afforded the same with a monster.

never the less, go test drive the cars. They are fun, they eat gas, GM rates the motors BHP but they all dyno at WHP (insurance lol). Those cars can easily be tweaked out for 100whp more without going to FI.

But don't expect to get 4 heated seats, or even 4 seats that are even remotely usable. Don't cry if fitment isn't perfect on body, or if flimsy archaic design interior bothers you.

then again you probably won't cry when you have to buy a used block/tranny/ecu for $2500 (ls1/ls2) a few years down the road, where as we will cry when our $8000 tiptronic/CVT blow in a couple of years.

I've got a 330ci coupe too its much nicer than the audi a4 1.8TQ b6, But its also DOUBLE the insurance of my audi per 6 months. Think about that while you consider a big performance car. Hell a b5 S4 costs less to insure than my 02 b6 1.8T lol. makes you wonder.

GAS MPG = who are we kidding. suck no matter what you buy.
Insurance = audi's are CHEAP to insure, cheaper than vw's respective model.
COPS = love hot cars to pull over.
MODDING/Repairs = all GM will own us here. Mods are not cheap, but the gains are pretty real too.

I think for those of us who can't afford a M5 (TCO not just leasing/buying it), or an AMG. I'll offer this bit of advice:
Buy more than one car. Or do it right and buy an RS6 or AMG to cure your need for speed.

otherwise you are going to tear up a nice car. if you don't believe me look at the dude cryin on audizine over his blown up tranny after blowing his block up and now wants to sell (havent you heard this story 10X by now?) on audizine. i read that and laffed. Been there done that.

for us non-rich folk, the best compromise for the need for speed is more than one car. Hopefully the one that costs more to repair will be driven least lol.

check out hptuners.com if you though revo was something for vag, lol. they put us to shame with their directport tech. first thing i did with my old car (now sold didnt fit baby seat) was disable egr (no codes store), disable rear o2, disable egr, disable low rpm misfire (112lsa), disable a.i.r., enable readiness bits = PASS -- 0 codes, cough cough. lol.

i love my audi for what it is,mind you.

Default Not true, in the 1/4 with just the APR Stage 1+...

and the current bolt on's out there, I beat two new GTO's, I got a 15.2 even with a ****ty 60' time of 2.6, FWD sucks off the line. The new GTO's got a 15.5, don't know his 60' time, the other was a 15.7. Of course a better driver would yield better results.

I haven't ran one on the highway with the Stage 3+ that's in the car now, but seeing that I pulled on a modded out M3, I bet it would be close. : ) FWD is good for some things.

Default Apples and Oranges

The A4 has more class and is much more of a civilized daily driver than the Evo or STI, but if you are looking for pure speed performance, either of those would be fine. A stock Vette? The Vette is a 2-seater, rear wheel drive and while a fantastic car, how can you compare to an all-wheel-drive four-door? If you live in a warm climate and don't have kids or the need for more than one passenger, then it's a no-brainer ... go for the Vette.

Default Very nice runs!!! No doubt they're quick with that big motor...

Not quite 12's but very close. Where are you located? The tracks here in Socal are horrible, too many people and too slippery. I did mangage a mid 14 with the Stage 3+ but the 60' time got worse, it was a 3.0! My Trap speeds were 107 though so I know I'm in the low 13's with some good traction. The same Modded M3 that I pulled on, ran a 13.4, 2.3 60', even he was losing traction. So the B6 A4 against the new stock GTO, with the right driver and traction, there's no spanking going on here. : ) Modded that's a whole other issue. ; )
