Re: thinking i will finally get the A4....
I have a 3.0. Mechanically its been fine, but quite a few quality control problems(which are now fixed). These include gritty paint, squeaky radiator fan, one defective key fob, bad rear arm rest, etc. Common problems include sunroof rattle and quirky climate control. If you buy one, make sure you use a reputable dealer with good service. Eventually, the car will be right.
In mycase, Audi has stood behind its warranty.

I find the Symphony a little tiring to listen to on long trips. Not bad, you just notice
it over long hauls. The only thing I drink in the car is water in a bottle.
That's the cool thing though, you do have options.

No major problems... just a few quirks
such as:
1) That center console drink holder... great position while driving (don't have to look down or away too far to grabba tha javva) but if you have a cold drink (or worse, Dairy Queen Blizzard) on a warm day, your stereo will be a sticky mess pretty quick due to condensation (or skor blizzard) dripping down the face of it.
2) Location of the cruise control - I don't know how many times I have hit that thing while trying to indicate a right turn - maybe I can be trained...
Having said that, everything else about the car FAR out-weighs my nitt-picking. The A4 is an awesome vehicle...

Center arm rest with manual is awkward, I'm always adjusting. Climate control has a mind of its own.
Also, flooring the gas and having no movement is also a bit weird. Yesterday, I got caught in a stopped lane on the freeway, tried to switch lanes and floor it and car didn't move. I needed to get off throttle a bit.

Re: What major problems did you have with the Jetta?
Well, to just name a few. Many window regulators on both passenger and driver side, a couple of arm rest, window wiper motors, instrument clusters, and other things. I am at the dealership about every other month for something.
