Timing Issue
As far as the code, I believe the V6 has cam sensors (hall effect sensors) at the firewall side of the engine. I also know that on the 1.8 it is a simple DIY; no disassembly required. Maybe you need to find another mech. Any input from you 3.0 owners?
edit: If it ran fine for 10,000 miles, doubt the TB was installed incorrectly.

Its hard to believe that belt is installed incorrecly because the car runs fine for the most part.
I haven't done this on a 30V. It's pretty easy on the 1.8T though.
And yes, there's one per cam and they're on the firewall side.Best,

In retrospect, I would start here assuming the sensor check out okay. Even though you didn't notice it for 10K miles. If so, I would ask he shop to reimburse you for any work done since then as well as fixing it. Reasoning: During start up and acceleration, the timing is advanced. If you are a cog off, what the ECU is expecting regarding cam positions is not achievable and therefore the, fault thrown. The reason it didn't show up for 10K miles? Maybe the belt has "stretched just enough to have these values go outside of the software tolerance. Reloading the software won't change this by the way...
