I have an '02 A4 1.8T Q simple stock with pirelli tires.

I live in the midwest and drive on a wide range of road-types and weather conditions. I put about 18k miles/year on my car and am around 34k right now. The car is parked outside and spends at lease three months of the year below freezing and three months above 90. I use the car only for road travel.

I have an undidentified slow leak in one of my rear tires and have had a patch applied to another due to a metal shard. I am exploring the possibilities of new tires sometime soon. I still have a decent amount of tread on my tires as far as I can tell (I haven't measured it), but because of the leak I think I may need to replace soon.

My question is, what kind of replacement tires would you recommend. I have read some bad things about Pirelli and I am curious what others think.
