Default Turbo Crisis

I recently installed a boost gauge and I'm peaking at 5 psi. I thought it should be more like 7 or 8? I'm concerned that the previous owner might not have taken care of her properly. If so, is there any way to get my baby's boost back up?

Sounds like soft limp mode. Check your ECU for soft codes.

Default Soft limp mode is a safe mode that places the car at 5psi to prevent...

further damage. It can come from overboost codes or even boost leaks that may not trigger the CEL to come on but if you plug a diagnostic tool into your car the code will be there. You need to have your car vagged or go to autozone and have them read the code. Come back and post the code here. cheers! Mike
