Default Wanting to get back in the Audi Scene

So I used to be an owner of an audi 90cs, I absolutely loved that car, and have been in love with audi's ever since. Now due to school i have not been able to buy a replacement car, but since I am graduating I am ready to get back in an Audi.

I have been looking to purchase an Audi A4 2002-2003 model with a 3.0 and manual transmission with quattro of course. Now my question is, is there a reliability issue with this cars? from what I have been reading here it seems like it. Or is there anything I should be worried about?

below is the car that I am looking at. Any opinions?<ul><li><a href="http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=198482919&amp;dealer_id=49294070&am p;car_year=2002&amp;search_type=used&amp;make=AUDI &amp;distance=50&amp;model=A4&amp;address=07060&am p;certified=&amp;advanced=&amp;max_price=20000&amp ;bk

Default i have an 02 3.0 and i have absolutely loved this car

sure there are some small things here and there... im at 56,500 miles and just got beat up for $1200 i repairs

still cheaper than buying a new car that i wont like nearly as much as my audi...

also that said i think the price might be a little high on that car.... i remember offers to buy my car (when i was entertaining the thought of trading for something else) were like for a max of $18,500 and I've got tiptronic and most of the options so with a 6 speed I'd assume it should be at least a little lower...

the low offers might have just been because I was dealing with carmax and a few "stealerships"

good luck though i think you will enjoy it... i still wish i got the 6 speed to this day !

Thanks, I guess obvisouly i cant expect a maintance free car, and it does help my father is a mechanic. That mechanic discount is really great. But my main concern is the price. They are asking 19,500 does anyone know if this is a competitive price, I have already checked edmunds.com They claim trade in value is $17,982 private party value is $19,767 and dealer retail is $21,620. Also I have checked the vehicles car fax and it appears to be clean. Any thoughts? Thanks for any responses

Default Price seems nothing over OK, relatively, though it's a 1.8t I got 29k-mile CPO for $20k...

Also, any plans on modifications? aesthetic and performance-wise? Can play a great deal in engine choice...

Default Most problems are related to coilpack and fuel pump failures. Other than that..

these cars have been pretty reliable as far as maintenence issues.

I recently purchased a 02 A4 3.0 (35k miles) from <a href="http://www.audiforyou.com">audiforyou</a>. These guys go to the Audi Financial auctions twice a month and pick up audi's coming off lease and resell them to the public. I found them originally on ebay and found out they were local to me here in Massachusetts. They were very reasonable and I was able to negotiate with them. They will work with you to find what you want at auction. Call and talk to Alex and tell him Dan from New Hampshire sent you. These guys are really a pleasure to work with and I will be purchasing another audi from them once my wifes Allroad comes off lease. One more thing.. talk them about the perks they offer when you buy from them. They are loyal to their customers.

My Garage:

04 Allroad 2.7T (wifes cah!)<ul><li><a href="http://www.audiforyou.com">Audiforyou.com</a></li></ul>

Default yeah a while back i was...

namely as i was approaching 50k miles (just out of concern of not having the factory warranty)

but after sitting down and thinking about the options....

i still love my car... i can't find another car i like as much as the b6 (that i can afford)... and whatever i would've done would've cost me more money than keeping my car and would've given me a car i wouldn't like as much

if that makes sense...

so i guess the plan now is to keep my car for the long haul (at least 2 more years) and see how the b8 is or if there are any viable options by then... and in the mean time add little things here and there... like the in.pro mirrors just to keep up the fun and interest in a car that i've already had for 4.5 years now

the benefits...
i'm still in college for about a year and a half... so i don't really want to get a new car in college... granted i avoid door dings and only park far away and/or in corner spots... the long highway drive to school and home for breaks are not nice on the front end of the car...

Default That's who I just bought my '02 Avant from. Good people.

It's crazy buying a used car over the internet, when you think about it. But I did with them and all turned out well.
