What's in the spare tire hump?

What's in the spare tire hump?
I took the tire out of the spare tire well and there is a hump, so I took the cover off under the car and it has some hoses and maybe a filter? I ask because the space used for the hump could be used for a subwoofer ,extra batterys, Etc. Any help?
