Does this help?
whe el offset as wheel offset gets lower, the inside of the tire moves towards the centerline of the car, closer to the suspension components and the inside wheel well. That probably has something to do with it.

hartmann supplies achtuning so the wheels are one and the same
the offset numbers are actually millimeters and think of it working in reverse so that if an et30 sits flush with the fender then an et35 will sit more inside the wheel well by a difference of 5mm.
The stock wheels being et43 will sit even further into the wheel well by 13mm more than an et30 wheel.
smaller number = more aggressive fitiment.

well as paul stated above, it does depend on wheel width. But generally Audi drivers tend to
try to fit the max safe width wheel, 8.5" is max safe IMO. Some people run 9" wheels but that is a little too close for comfort for me.

Diff. is 5mm. ET30 more aggresive. And like Paul_858 said; "offset dependent on wheel width".
I run 19x8.5 ET31 all around w/ 235/35-19 and no problems (even lowered with Coilovers).
