Why does my back-up Audi key cause everything in my car to go Metric on me... as in Celsius?!?

probably since your settings were last set that way when that key last accessed the car....
change the settings back after you unlocked the car with that key. Also make sure you put the key in the ignition and turn it to accessory mode with the same key. Turn off car and lock. Unlock car and see if the settings go back to US/English.

it's in the owner's manual....
