1999 a4 wagon battery won't hold charge
I am a newbie... so a little help is really appreciated. Had a dead battery figured it was time so I replaced it. Started the car after replacing it and everything was fine. Turned it off, and 5 hours later went out to go to the store and the battery is dead. Can't be the alternator - hasn't been run to deplete the battery, nothing was left on. So something is draining the battery while the car has been off. Also noticed some strange stuff including the alarm spontaneously going off and the sunroof just opening randomly. These things occrured at other times, not during the battery fiasco. Thoughts?

Low battery can cause those other issues - and the alternator can short
and cause the battery to drain as I believe the voltage regulator is integral to it.
