Default Belly pan fasteners

they are all flathead fasteners, and there are 13 of them. 3 stay attached to the belly pan, the other 10 you must account for when removing it. Isnt too difficult, the easiest way to reattach it is to start with one or two fasteners in the front and then go to the 3 in the rear, then fill in the others. I just did this in the last week, so it is still fresh in my mind. also i ordered the 36mm oil filter socket from Amazon.com and it made it a lot easier. this part may be available at an auto parts store, the package said it was for a 6.0L powerstroke diesel motor, but worked just fine on the Audi, LOL.

Thanks for posting this tutorial. I almost took my car to the dealer for my diverter valve, snub mount & oil change, estimated $900! Without seeing this page I dont think I would have attempted the work that was needed.

I purchased the snub mount, DV, cabin & engine filters from ECS and had everything within 2 days. Everything swapped pretty easily minus the DV. Was a bit tight for my big hands, many curse words flew out of my garage but after about 90 minutes I had the 3 screws removed and replaced. I do recommend ordering 3 new screws. ECS sent me the wrong screws but I was able to reuse the originals.

Thanks again.

Here's how I did it last weekend:

drive a car for few minutes to warm up the engine. Go drive to kragen to get oil for example.

put on plastic gloves

take out dipstick,

plug in hose from extractor into the engine

start pumping

Now we will have to loosen the filter case

take your plastic bag and wrap it around filter casing

take the socket 36 and turn the filter

let all the oil from case drains into bag, shouldn't be much at all

filter falls into bag, take out filter casing only

clean filter case with blue paper towel

pull out black plastic ring inside casing - use needle pliers

put new plastic ring that came with the filter

put new filter, best if made in germany

do more pumps on the extractor and see if anything else drains out

put filter case with filter and secure it with 36 ratchet

now put in funnel and pour in syntetic oil 5qt of your choice for 2.0T

4.8 quarts Castrol Syntec 5W-40:

First remove all of the hardware required to remove the two underbelly pans.

There's a lot of those suckers!

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/Jestnomen/CIMG0833.jpg">

Open the oil filler cap in the engine bay next.

On the underside of the engine is the oil drain plug.

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/Jestnomen/CIMG0832.jpg">

After you have the oil drained, now comes the fun part. Audi decided to change the oil filter to a canister style setup. I guess they have a special tool to drain the oil out of the bottom of the canister, but it's optional really. I got by just fine without it. There is a little dust cover that reveals the valve an Audi tech would use to drain the oil out of the bottom of the canister. I suppose I'll invest in the tool eventually. It does cut down on the mess.

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/Jestnomen/CIMG0831.jpg">

Next I removed the canister by getting a very large adjustable wrench around the end of the canister. There is very little room to do this, but it works best to do it from the top of the engine bay reaching down.

Canister valve:

Next replace the gasket inside with the one provided in your new oil filter. It fits in the groove on the inside.

Old filter:

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/Jestnomen/CIMG0817.jpg">

The rest of the process is pretty much the reverse. Install the new filter media and canister and tighten it down.

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/Jestnomen/CIMG0826.jpg">

After the filter canister is installed refill your oil.

Next up is the ECS Tuning snub mount.

Here's a pic of the OEM Audi mount:

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/Jestnomen/CIMG0839.jpg">

It's very spongy and soft. I can see why my car would shift kind of sloppy. The install was very easy since the panels were already removed from the oil change.

Here's the new snub. I had to use a little white lithium grease to get it onto it's post. I also used a vise to coax it over the post's hump.

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/Jestnomen/CIMG0834.jpg">

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/Jestnomen/CIMG0836.jpg">

It's really only 3 bolts to remove and three hex heads as you can see. Once I had the bolts threaded I started the car and let the mount settle in. I then tightened them down. No vibrations that people complain about with the APR snubs. I wasn't certain if I would be able to tell the difference. But I can tell you that I do. The OEM snub is much to soft. Now when I shift I feel more connected to the car and shifts are smoother and less soft feeling. It's hard to explain. All in all I think it was worth the price.

Anyway sorry this is so long. Hope it helps someone.
