2005.5 3.2 at invoice minus a little?
Hi all,
I've been given a deal to purchase a pretty well loaded 2005.5 A4 3.2 at a little below invoice. I can get a 2006 A4 at about 500 over invoice. I'm perplexed as what road to take with this? Should I go for the 05 or 06??? OR get a 2.0T and chip it.
Thanks,
zoomee

Which did you like driving more?
For me, once I drove both cars, I knew I wanted the smoothness of the V6. Had to have it. To me it just has a much more solid, nicer feel to it than the 4 cylinder.
I also wanted the performance up front, rather than doing modifications to the car that would void the warranty. I figure this way I can wait four years, keep my eyes open and see what develops in terms of mods, and then if I like the car enough mod it once it is out of warranty.
The final factor for me was the exhaust note -- in the 3.2 it is intoxicating, really a nice sound when you get on it. I found the sound of the 2.0T to be totally underwhelming.
There is no difference between the 2005.5's and the 2006's other than configuration of option packages. The only new feature is the addition of Bluetooth in the 2006. If you don't need Bluetooth then go for the 2005.5 for sure.

Just a guess....
The difference in depreciation will be there, but if you are saving $1000 on the front end (i.e. the cost difference between the 2005.5 and the 2006) it will probably end up being a wash at worst.
I have no clue, really, but that sounds about right. :-)

I vote 2.0T with 6MT
The 2.0T 6MT is just as quick as the auto 3.2, much less money, and gets awesome gas mileage -- shhh, it's a secret. If you chip the 2.0T it will demolish the 3.2. There aren't any chip options for the 3.2.
If you need an automatic then it's a tougher decision. Regardless, don't rely on paper stats, go test drive everything you're considering.

C&am p;D Review

Don't Take that 2005.5 "Deal"
Per the Edmunds site, the dealer is presently getting a $2500 kick-back from Audi to off-load the remaining 2005 A4 inventory. The depreciation hit you will take by getting a 2005 instead of 2006 is in excess of $2,000.
With his $2,500 dealer rebate, you should be entitled to a price that is at least $2,000 LESS than invoice. He's got to get rid of those 2005 models and he is prepared to deal. You just need to be persistent.

One LA area dealer was offering $6500 off MSRP on all 3.2's last weekend
I agree that you should get a deal more than a little below invoice. I would shoot for $6K off MSRP. With that kind of discount, I think the 2005.5 model makes more sense than a 2006. Your savings will more than offset the extra depreciation.
But if you want an S-Line, 2006 is the only choice.
