Still trying to figure out the audio system on an '06 A4 before I buy one this week. The car I'm looking at has Nav system, XM radio, and CD changer.

If I use the CD changer port for an iPod hookup, can I then play CDs through the single drive of the Nav system (or is that slot strictly for the DVD of the nav)? I realize I would not be able to use the nav when I play a CD in that slot. I'm not interested in messing with SD cards, as I carry my iPod everywhere.

Also, in some photos, CD song titles are listed on the nav screen. When I test drove the car and played a CD, I only got a list of "Track 1 ... Track 2 ... etc." Does the system display actual song titles somehow?

I'm just trying to figure out the best way to have Nav, XM, CDs and iPod all in the same car. Not sure whether to buy the official Audi iPod adaptor or just rig something up after market. I appreciate the help! Thanks.

If you want to hook up the iPod you lose your external CD changer, at least for sure with the Symphony II headunit.

As for song title display - not possible. The headunit, neither the Symphony or the Nav unit supports this, specifically CDTEXT which is required. On the Nav, if you're playing MP3s from the SD you get the titles displayed of course.

There are a couple folks here that have been able to wire the iPod creatively so they don't lose anything but I think there are some things they can't use but can't recall.
