Any chance of rigging up an IPod to the Audi Symphony (Bose)...???
No navigation in my B7, but was wondering if there is any method of integrating an IPod into the regular Audi Symphony Head Unit? Anyone know of any "contraptions" that might work?
Apologize if this info was already posted. My search on IPod integration on this forum threw up some 11K results...

With or without satellite?
There is one port available, which can apparently be used for an external changer, Phatbox, or satellite. If you have any of those the port will not be available.
I don't think there are any other ports.
BTW, the sound quality of a cassette adapter is at least as good as the factory XM, even if you don't get online control of the iPod.

Dension Icelink
You can buy it at BestBuy, easy to install. Toughest part is pulling out the headunit.
I used the casette adapter for years and after hearing it through the Icelink (quality will be the same with the Blitzsafe but has no control of the iPod but you can use other things with it) I was sold.

I have Satellite -- Is it possible to use that port by disabling the satellite?
I dont use XM anymore. The IPod connecting to this port will be handy...
Do I have to remove the head unit for this?
Thanks much,

Yes, but I don't know if you'd have to VAG it.
I hate to say it, but the quality's still a little better with the cassette adapter. I had a Blitzsafe in my last car (Jetta w/ Monsoon). I could choose between the cassette and the Blitzsafe, but there was no comparison.
The cassette head's got decent frequency response; certainly better than most people realize. Remember, music used to be mastered on analog magnetic tape. The limiting factor of the cassette format has really always been the relatively slow speed of the tape. With an adapter that's not an issue, and the quality's much closer to reel-to-reel than to cassette.

Re: What cassette adapter do you use?
I have a couple. My wife uses one that came from Walmart. I use one that came with an XM Radio car kit.
Unless an MP3 was RIP'd at a particularly low volume, hiss is not a problem. As for scraping noises, between tracks it is sometimes possible to hear the physical cassette deck running inside the head unit. Nothing you can hear over the sounds of an engine and roadnoise.

Thanks man... Do you have any recommendation for a Casette Adaptor....
I dont mind getting one and trying it out if it's cheap....
Besides, I checked and dont think the Dension Icelink has anything for the Audi/Nano combination yet.
Thanks much again...
