Default Best B7 model??

Well I'm in the market for an A4 that will replace my current fully built Mazdaspeed Protege. I'm debating between 2.0 or 3.2 I know manual, AWD is a must as well as a sunroof. Either one I get will get an exhaust and chip for sure. But since the 2.0 is already 50 HP less will it be able to really catch up to the 3.2 with only exhaust amd chip. I really don't want to go all out on the Audi since going all out is whats made my MSP not a very good daily driver for Chicago winters. Also I have a very good line on YellowSpeed Coilovers for the Audi, so would I be better to find an S-line or just upgrade the suspension with coilovers or just upgraded springs?

I have a 6mt 3.2. Its very reliable, but you can't squeeze out much more HP. 3.2 has plenty of power for spirited daily driving. Good luck with your purchase.

The BEST B7 model is the RS4 . But if you're in the market for a B7 A4, I think the 2.0t just makes more sense. It is much easier to find (something like 80% of all B7 A4 were 2.0t), it can be made faster than a 3.2 in a very civilized manner, its more fuel efficient (depend on the driver).

Typical power mods are:
Stage 1: Chip (stage 1 flash)
Stage 2: Hi-flow Cat/TP, Chip (stage 2 flash), exhaust optional
Stage 2+: Hi-flow cat/TP, HPFP upgrade, Chip (stage 2+ flash), exhaust, meth and injectors optional
Stage 3: K04 turbo, injectors, FMIC, K04 tune

Sounds like you're not going to the extend to replace the turbo (stg3). Usually, the stage 1 flash will bring you to the 3.2 power level, by stg2+, you're at around 280-300bhp.

As for suspension, don't just replace the springs, the front spring cups sits a little higher then the rear, which results in a slightly larger wheel gap than the rear, no matter what springs you use. You can fix this by either replace the whole suspension, or replace the spring cups to the B5 ones.

Good luck on the B7

Thanks for the info guys and keep it coming
I keep finding so many mixed results. I did find a chip for the 3.2 that claims 280 HP. I figure with that chip headers and full exhaust, I would see 280hp. I really didnt expect to see 280-300 hp with a chip and exhaust on the 2.0t that intruiges me further. I figured those 2 things on the 2.0 would bring it up to the 250 HP level. Add in a FMIC and things even out, except the 2.0 is much lighter. The funny thing is I bought the MSP because it was already a quick car and I wouldn't feel the need to modify... I guess you can't give a tunable car to a car guy LOL. Which is probably why the 3.2 is my safer bet. LOL

Hi Zuku

Just keep in mind that you are talking about two different animals as the 3.2 is a NA motor and the 2.0 obviously the turbo. Chipping a NA motor gains you very little. Probably around 10HP, although some drivabilty enhancements go along with the 10HP. The 2.0 chipped makes 280hp with the upgraded fuel pump. With a high flow cat and and exhaust you will get to the 3.2. Also keep weight in mind as the 3.2 is heavier so you are losing there.

Hope that helps.
