Default chip questions on a new A4

Thinking of getting the 06 2.0T. I would definately like to chip it. Are most dealers okay with this, or do you just not tell them. Should i tell the dealer i am going to do this and have the okay it ahead of time. Thanks

Default DO NOT TELL YOUR DEALER YOU ARE CHIPPED!

Your warranty will be void in that case or they will not pay for any problems that might come up, because they will assume the chip caused it.

Most dealers are not ok with the chip. It depends what kind of relationship you get with your advisor, but in no circumstances should you tell them you have a chip!!

Default Sort of accurate...

They cannot just void a warrenty. There has to be a reason too...like an issue with the car that is directly asspociated and cant be point to the chip as the issuer of the problem.

But, as you mentioned, a dealer can trace anything back if they WANT to. Bottom line, hva e good realationship with your service manager and your dealership. Know they serivce techs...treat them well and they will do the same to you.

Also, if your dealer is mod friendly, great...but dont go blaring about it on here....AoA reads these boards and has and will crack down on your dealer.

Finally, realize all that I just mentioned is usually the case, but if you do anything to your car you have to pay to play. Realize the possible repocussions...and be able to accept them before you proceede.

Default here is the truth on chips

obviously a chip can cause problems with your car... telling the dealer yes or no is essentially meaningless (but why let them know)

it is illegal for the dealership to deny a warranty claim unless they can prove an aftermarket part caused the problem with the stock part

that being said if you chip your car and you blow the turbo, clutch, or other engine related components you may be likely to have issues when trying to warranty those parts

Default simple, just change ECU's when taking care in for services other than oil changes.

not time consuming and could save you $$ and hassle in the long run.

Default

The new ECUs for the B6 and even more so for the B7 do not allow easy ECU swapping.
