My 2006 S4 is having the exact symptoms. Turning the lights off then on always solves, but very temporary. I notice it most in 1st gear, over bumps or accelerating. Not sure if the water makes it worse. I’ll have to start paying attention. Did those covers end up being the solution? I already have the battery cover.
