Default Iphone 4 issue

Hey guys was wondering if yall could help me out with some thing. Ive been searching the internet and these forums for a day and can't figure out why my Iphone 4 wont connect to the stereo.

I do not have the navigation. I have the Audi symphony stereo, with the ipod jack in the glove box. When I plug my Iphone into the jack, It Displays a message "This device is not made for this phone. You may experience some noise while listening to music"

According to the owners manual, I have to hit the cd button until it says Ipod. When I do so, all it says is no cd and goes back to satellite. (There are no cds in the changer)

Ive tried wiggling it, restarting the phone, turning the radio on and off with no different results.

Any one have any Ideas? Thank you in advance.

I was told that the iPod cable in the glove box is not comparable with the iPhone and should not be used. Could be the reason. Anyone else hear this?

I have a 2008 and my iPhone 4G does not really fit into the adapter in the glove box. That said you will always see the the message you mentioned, ... "This device is not made for this phone. You may experience some noise while listening to music". I see this in my 2010.

Since the 2008 was a recent CPO aquisition for me I have also tried a 1st gen Nano and it appears to be playing but there is no audio at all.

You may need to pull out the iPod adapter from the glove box and double check the connections of the cable. I did that myself but it did not cure my non-audio issue.... still trying to figure that out.

Well, I'm pretty sure I have a bad connector. I was at a buddies last night, and he has 4 different Ipods. Not one of them worked. I guess back to Audi I go.

I hated not being able to see songs and playlists, so I ordered a Grom cable from Amazon. iPod adapter to headphone jack. It works perfectly. http://amzn.com/B00545WG4O
