Oxygen sensor
I have an Audi A4 Quatro (year 2000). I was told that the Oxygen sensor needs to be replaced (the check engine light keeps coming on). Does this need to be done right away or can it wait??? They are asking $390 to do the job, is there a cheaper way to have this done??? Thanks for any advice given.

Buy O2 sensor and replace it yourself!
You will probably use more gas than optimal since open loop will not work. But, it does not need to be changed right away..... It should idle and drive fine...
If they looked at it already, ask them which O2 sensor is bad.. Then, you can just replace it yourself...

However the CEL will keep coming on, and don't be too surprised if your gas mileage goes down the tubes.
There are 2 O2 sensors, one pre-cat and one Post-cat. Find someone local to you with a VAG-COM tool, and find out which O2 sensor has failed. These are typically an easy DIY replacement.
